Octopus Recordings

Founded in 2007 by the Dublin/Barcelona-based artist Sian [a]Octopus Recordingshas been flexing its tentacles lately, getting an ever firmer purchase on the sets of discerning techno DJs with a taste for toughness. And Sian has been wriggling his way deeper and deeper into maze-like, sub-aquatic caverns: his new album Before Silencefinds him pulverizing his own material (plus remixes rom Jonas Kopp, Terence Fixmer, Gui Boratto and others) into 1013 discrete elements, which he rearranged in Ableton into a single, flowing session. (Learn more in RA’s interview with him.)
Octopus recently rocked Barcelona with an off-Sonar club night and a beach party featuring X-Press 2, Kaiserdisco, Paul Woolford, Ramon Tapia, Carlo Lio, Oliver Huntemann, Konrad Black and of course Sian himself; on July 7, they stick to the nautical theme, with an unofficial off-Exit party, held in conjunction with Flowthing, at a floating club on the Danube River in Novi Sad, Serbia.
